One Apple Per Day To Lose Weight

Consumption of one apple per day would help lose weight according to a study of women aged 45 to 65 years.

It is accompanied by an improvement in the cholesterol figures.

One Apple Per Day To Lose Weight

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Florida, in USA, and presented at Experimental Biology conference on April 12, suggests that consuming one (dried) apple per day is beneficial for health and the line. The daily consumption of this fruit would result in a decrease in LDL cholesterol (the so-called “bad”), an increase in HDL cholesterol (the “good”), and weight loss.

Study

The authors tracked 160 women aged 45 to 65 years for over one year in order to assess the effect of apple consumption on health. In addition to a normal diet, participants consumed either 75 grams of prunes per day or 75 grams of dried apples. Their cholesterol was measured after 3, 6 and 12 months of follow-up.

Results

Six months after the start of the study, women who consumed the apple saw their LDL cholesterol decreased by 23% on average, and their HDL-cholesterol increased by 4%. This change in cholesterol numbers is generally considered to be conducive to cardiovascular health, although this hypothesis is confirmed by researchers and physicians. Women who used the dried apple daily also lost an average of 1.5 kg.
